About Our Program

Titled

A Focus on Temperament

A Focus on Temperament

Titles are earned in various avenues of dog sports, aimed at evaluating future breeding stock. We aim for titles on both ends of a dog. Not only conformation championship, but companion and sport titles as well.

A Focus on Temperament

A Focus on Temperament

A Focus on Temperament

Temperament is of the utmost importance to us. Our breedings are planned with the intent of creating wonderful companions who can thrive in pet homes or sport homes.

Health Tested

A Focus on Temperament

Health Tested

Our dogs are always fully health tested. For the Belgian Laekenois, this includes OFA hips, elbows, advanced cardiac (an echocardiogram), a CAER eye exam, and DNA panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Laekenois are similar to the other three Belgian Shepherd varieties in that they are very handler-focused, driven, biddable, and very intelligent. They are not a dog for the first time pet owner and do require extensive socialization and consistent training and exercise. They are devoted to their people and can range from friendly with strangers to aloof. When working, they are intense and eager to please. There are Laekenois excelling in obedience, rally, agility, scentwork, dock diving, barnhunt, herding, and more. They tend toward higher prey drive and medium/high energy needs, generally with good "off switches" in the house.

The breed has coarse double coat with varying levels of curl. They are hand stripped, as are many wirehaired dogs. My girls do well with monthly baths and weekly brushouts, which minimizes shedding. The breed DOES shed, but not as heavily as a German Shepherd or similar dog. I hand strip my dogs once or twice yearly, as their coat changes, and let them grow the rest of the year. I am more than happy to teach any puppy owners how to hand strip, it is not as difficult as it may seem.

I do not take deposits, but I do keep a loose waitlist for upcoming litters. There is no first come, first served, as my main focus is to place puppies based on temperament and structure. Show and sport homes will always be a priority, as they are the future of the breed and my lines. This is not to say that pet homes are not important, I am always looking for wonderful pet homes. If you are interested in a Laeken, please reach out and I would love to talk!
